The magic of the Dolomites: A high-altitude hike between Rosengarten and Latemar

The Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Between the impressive mountain ranges of the Rosengarten and the Latemar there is a landscape that makes every hiker's heart beat faster.

A breathtaking start: The rose garden

The journey begins in Nova Levante, from where you take the König Laurin cable car up to the heights of the Rosengarten. As soon as you get off the train you are greeted by a spectacular view. The massive rock walls of the rose garden rise majestically into the sky and offer an impressive sight.

The Hirzelsteig, a high-altitude path, meanders directly along these steep rock faces and always offers breathtaking views of the Eggental. The sun rising over the peaks bathes the landscape in a golden light and makes every nature lover's heart beat faster.

The Labyrinth of Latemar

After leaving the rose garden behind you, the path leads to the labyrinth path at the foot of the Latemar. A very special challenge awaits the hiker here: a path that winds through a veritable labyrinth made of huge boulders. It's like walking through another world, shaped by the power of nature.

The boulders that form the labyrinth bear witness to a massive rockfall that occurred long ago. They remind you of how changeable and yet constant nature is.

The ascent to Latemar

After the labyrinth path, we continue through the idyllic Herrenwald. Here you can feel the vibrant life of the forest. Birds chirp, insects buzz, and the silence is only broken by the gentle rustling of leaves. The forest is also known for its tonewood, a rare wood used to make musical instruments.

The path continues uphill, past rugged rock formations, until you finally reach the Latemar Höhenweg. From here you have a breathtaking view over the Eggental and can enjoy the beauty of the Dolomites in all their glory.

A crowning conclusion

The hike finally ends at the viewing platform of the Latemarium. From here you have a wide view over the surrounding landscape and, when the weather is clear, you can even see as far as the Ötztal and Stubai Alps.

After such an impressive tour, you deserve a break. In the Oberholz hut you can fortify yourself with a delicious apple strudel and reflect on the experiences of the day.

The Dolomites are a place full of magic and beauty. A hike between Rosengarten and Latemar is an experience that you won't soon forget. It is a journey through a breathtaking landscape that touches the heart and refreshes the soul.
