Winter wonders in the Dolomites: A hike to the Boè hut
The Dolomites are a paradise for hikers, and not just in summer. Even in winter, when the peaks are covered by a thick blanket of snow, they offer an unforgettable experience. Such a winter hike leads to the Boè Hut, a picturesque place surrounded by the impressive backdrop of the Piz Boè.
Starting point: Sass Pordoi
The journey begins at Pordoi Pass, from where a cable car takes hikers to Sass Pordoi at an altitude of 2,950 meters. You can expect a thick blanket of snow up here as early as October. Despite the cold and wind, the summit offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains.
Under the Piz Boè
The hike leads directly below the impressive Piz Boè, the highest point in the Sella group and the mountain known as the easiest 3000m peak in the Dolomites. The path is well marked and easy to walk despite the winter conditions. However, you should pay attention to icy areas and wear good shoes.
Unique views
During the hike, spectacular views of the Dolomites open up again and again. The views of the Großvenediger, the Braies Dolomites and the Fanes Group are particularly impressive. But the Piz Boè itself, which is constantly in the hikers' field of vision, is also a real highlight.
The destination: The Boè Hut
After a hike through the snowy landscape you finally reach the Boè Hut. Although it is closed in winter, it offers a perfect place to take a break and enjoy the surrounding mountains. If you want to hike a little further, you can reach further viewing points from here and admire the impressive landscape of the Dolomites from different perspectives.
Return to starting point
After a long rest and many unforgettable impressions, we finally head back to Sass Pordoi. From here the cable car takes hikers back to Pordoi Pass, the starting point of this unforgettable winter hike.
The Dolomites offer a unique experience in every season. Whether in summer or winter, the impressive mountain world and the well-marked hiking trails always invite you to new adventures.
