The fascinating hike to Herzogstand and Heimgarten

The mountains are calling! And for anyone looking for adventure in nature, the Herzogstand and the Heimgarten are two of the most impressive destinations in the Alps. Both mountains not only offer breathtaking views, but also a hiking experience that you won't soon forget.

Starting point: Walchensee

Our journey begins at Walchensee, more precisely at the parking lot of the Herzogstandbahn station. From here we follow the signs that lead us to one of Munich's most famous local mountains: the Herzogstand. With every step we take uphill, we are rewarded with increasingly impressive views.

The rise to ducal status

As we follow the signs towards Herzogstand, we come across a picturesque little waterfall. The path leads us further over steps that bring us closer and closer to the summit. After about two hours we reach the royal house at the Herzogstand. From this point there is a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains.

A natural spectacle on the summit

The actual summit of the Herzogstand is just a short walk away. Here, at an altitude of 1,731 meters, we witness an impressive natural spectacle. The mist, which moves between the mountains like lazy sea waves, bathes the landscape in a mystical light.

The ridge path to the Heimgarten

After we have climbed the Herzogstand, we continue our hike towards Heimgarten. The path takes us over a ridge that requires concentration and caution, especially in ice-covered areas. However, this ridge path also offers some of the most impressive views of the surrounding mountains. After crossing the ridge, we finally reach Heimgarten, another spectacular peak in this mountain range.

The descent and the end of an unforgettable hike

From the summit of the Heimgarten we have a last view of the impressive ridge path that we have just crossed. The way back finally takes us down to the picturesque Weißensee. Our hike ends with memories of breathtaking views and the feeling of having climbed two of the most impressive mountains in the Alps.

The hike to Herzogstand and Heimgarten is a must for all nature and mountain lovers. It is an experience that highlights both the beauty of nature and the challenge of mountaineering.
