Wedding in the mountains - 10 tips for organizing it

Hochzeit in den Bergen - 10 Tipps für die Organisierung

A wedding in the mountains

Have you ever dreamed of having your wedding in a different location than most of your friends? Have you ever thought about leaving everything and driving to the mountains?

Not all couples want to have a standard wedding where they live. Many people choose to have a wedding in the mountains. Sometimes they are modest receptions in a place with a beautiful view, but it also happens that the wedding grows to several hundred people having fun in a mountain atmosphere.

If you've ever thought about having your wedding in the mountains." - I would like to give you 10 tips on how to organize weddings in the mountains.

I believe that I am a competent person to write about this very topic. Many of the wedding reports I have done in my life have taken place in the mountains. Most of these were in the Bavarian Alps, but I also often work in the Bavarian Forest.

I have a lot of experience with wedding photo shoots in the mountains. I know the places that will take your breath away and I am happy to accompany couples there.

1. Choosing the right location for your wedding in the mountains

Choosing the right location for your mountain wedding is the first thing you should think about. Maybe you already have your favorite place in the mountains, but maybe you're just starting your search. If you dream of a wedding in the Bavarian Alps, you should consider whether it should be a church wedding or an outdoor wedding with a view of the mountains.

If you want your wedding to take place somewhere with a view of the mountains, but not necessarily in the middle of the mountains, then it is worth organizing it in the hotel where your wedding will take place. There are many places overlooking the mountains where such ceremonies are organized.

2. Choose the right date

Is there such a thing as a perfect date for a mountain wedding? It will probably be a different date for everyone, but in my experience it's worth considering a few special dates.

If you dream of celebrating your wedding in the center of a big city and at the same time want to avoid the crowds of tourists, you should avoid summer and holiday dates. The ideal dates for you are autumn, spring and part of winter.

If you want to spend this time outside the city center, the date doesn't matter too much. There may be more traffic on the streets, but you can easily find a place to escape the crowds.

3. Choosing a good photographer

Advertising is a lever of commerce, they say. I will devote one point to myself - a wedding photographer who has photographed dozens of different weddings and weddings in the mountains. If you want to be sure that your wedding photos are taken in a natural, reporter-like style, that there are captured moments that make you pause, and that your wedding session took place in a beautiful atmosphere and in a unique location - write to me and ask a free appointment

4. Ask the “Locals”

There is a rule of thumb that when on vacation you go to the restaurants where the so-called "locals" eat. They know best where to find good local food. The same principle can also be applied when organizing a wedding.

5. Weddings with accommodation in the mountains

Those who invite guests to their wedding, which is taking place several hundred miles from their home, often want to provide accommodation for their family and friends who want to attend the celebration. Many venues in the area offer accommodation. However, if the wedding is taking place in a place where there is no accommodation, it is worth asking the owners of the place for a recommendation for a hotel or guesthouse. In my experience, all wedding organizers in the Bavarian Alps work with people who run inns in the immediate vicinity of the wedding hall.

6. Thinking about a wedding shoot in the mountains

A wedding in the mountains and not a wedding photo shoot? This is probably unimaginable.

But it doesn't necessarily have to be a wedding shoot on a day other than the wedding. If you are lucky with the weather, a quick appointment can be arranged on the wedding day. After lunch you can take 30 minutes and take a few photos at one of the many viewpoints. However, if you decide to hold such a photo session on another day, I would be happy to recommend some great locations for a mountain wedding.

7. Combine your mountain wedding with a vacation!

I realize that it's hard to get a vacation in today's world. A wedding in the mountains can of course be combined with a vacation and honeymoon. Especially if you're only organizing a small wedding party, you might be tempted to stay in the mountains for a few more days.

8. Organize everything remotely

Organizing an event as important as your own wedding and reception doesn't have to be time-consuming.

These days, most things can be done remotely. In my experience, couples are increasingly willing to sign a contract with me remotely. This is facilitated by technology that allows the contract to be signed securely through a dedicated app.

9. Prepare thematic attractions

If you want to have a wedding in the mountains, you should take into account that your guests also want to experience some of the local tradition. This is possible by organizing local attractions.

In the winter months it is also a good idea to go on a sleigh ride before or after the wedding celebration.

10. Enjoy the day!

This is advice that applies to every wedding. Whether in the mountains or by the sea. Enjoy yourself and your wedding day. No attraction, no mountain view can overshadow the fact that you are the most important part of the day.
