A breathtaking adventure: snowshoeing in the Swiss Alps

The journey begins

Our journey begins in Saas-Grund, a picturesque place in the Swiss Alps. From here we take the cable car that takes us to the higher regions of the mountain. As soon as we arrive at the Hohsaas mountain station, we are rewarded with a spectacular panorama of the Mischabel Group.

Equipment and safety

Before we start our hike, it is important to make sure we are properly equipped. In addition to snowshoes, climbing harnesses and avalanche equipment, including an avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe, are essential. This equipment ensures that we can navigate the terrain safely, especially in areas prone to avalanches.

The experience

Hiking with snowshoes is a meditative experience. Every step we take on the fresh snow immerses us deeper into nature. The silence, broken only by the crunch of snow under our feet, is calming. During our hike we pass a glacier, but it is no longer moving, which means we don't need to rope up on this section.

The reward

After a strenuous hike, we finally reach our destination: the Lagginjoch. The view from up here is simply breathtaking. We can look as far as Graubünden and see the Bernina massif on the horizon. The view of the surrounding four-thousanders, including Allalinhorn, Alphubel, Dom and Täschhorn, is an unforgettable sight.

Return and reflection

After we have fully enjoyed the beauty of the Alps, we make our way back. The return follows the same path we came and offers us the opportunity to admire the landscape again. After the hike, we treat ourselves to a well-deserved break and enjoy a delicious Rösti with a breathtaking panorama in the background.
