The fascinating mountain world of Tyrol: A hike between Wannig and Mittenspitze

The mountains are calling! When you think of hiking in the Alps, impressive peaks, breathtaking views and untouched nature immediately come to mind. Such a hike that combines all these elements can be found in Tyrol, between the Wannig and the Mittenspitze.

The beginning of the adventure

The journey begins in Biberwier, near Ehrwald, a picturesque town in Tyrol. The path leads along a developed gravel road that winds its way next to a babbling river. The route, known as the "Alb Grad", offers hikers clear signposts that lead safely through the picturesque landscape.

Encounters with the animal world

During the hike you will come across curious herds of cows grazing peacefully in the lush meadows. But it's not just cows that cross the path. Some animal companions, such as small insects, even settle on the hikers' shoulders for a short time. It is this connection to nature that makes hiking in the mountains so special.

The climb to Wannig

The path becomes rockier and more challenging the higher you climb. The last 400 meters to the summit of the Wannig are characterized by rocks and scree fields. This landscape is reminiscent of the surface of the moon - barren and yet fascinating. After a strenuous climb you will finally be rewarded with an impressive panorama. The Wannig, part of the so-called E-Mini chain in Tyrol, offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding Alps.

The ridge path to the tip of the glove

After a short rest at the summit of Wannig, the most demanding part of the hike begins: the ridge path to the Mittenspitze. This narrow path requires sure-footedness and sturdy shoes. On one side of the ridge there is a steep descent, while on the other side the summit of Mittenspitze is in sight. This section of the hike is only recommended for experienced mountaineers.

The reward at the summit

After the challenging ridge path you finally reach the summit of the Mittenspitze. Here you can take a well-deserved break, enjoy a snack and admire the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. The landscape that unfolds before your eyes is simply phenomenal and worth every effort.

The Descent

The way back to the valley is just as challenging as the climb. The stony path is lined with scree fields, and here too, sure-footedness is required. But with every step you take closer to the valley, you realize what an impressive adventure you have just experienced.

The hike between the Wannig and the Handschuhspitze is an unforgettable experience that combines the beauty and challenge of the Tyrolean mountains. It is a journey that challenges and rewards both the body and the mind.
