The fascinating hike up Vojak: A summit with a breathtaking view

The mountains are calling! And for all those who are looking for adventure and love nature, the Vojak is a must. With a height of 1401 meters, it is the highest mountain on the Istrian peninsula in Croatia and offers hikers an unparalleled experience.

Starting point: The Poklon Pass

The journey begins at Poklon Pass, where the Nature Park Information Center is located. From here a well-marked path leads directly to the summit of Vojak. During the hike you will be surrounded by a thick fog that bathes the forest in a mysterious light. But don't worry, the path is always clearly marked and leads through a forest that is covered in rustling leaves in autumn.

The reward: A look above the clouds

As you climb, the fog gradually clears, revealing an impressive sea of clouds. It's like walking above the clouds. And then, the highlight of the trip: the summit of Vojak. A breathtaking view awaits hikers here. On clear days you can see the Kvarner Bay and the islands of Krk and Cres. But even if clouds obscure the view of the sea, the view from above is simply spectacular.

A historical landmark: The observation tower

A special highlight on the summit is the observation tower, a landmark of the nature park that has existed since 1911. From here you have a fascinating view of the surrounding landscape and the huge antenna system, which is also located on the summit.

An additional tip: The Vela Draga gorge

After the successful hike up Vojak, there is another natural wonder to discover: the Vela Draga gorge. This impressive gorge offers breathtaking views and is home to some unique rock formations that serve as popular climbing destinations. Some of these formations, such as the "Candle", are made of white limestone and offer an impressive natural spectacle.

The Vela Draga gorge is not only a natural paradise, but also a place of historical importance. Scenes for the famous film “Winnetou” were filmed here.

Whether you are an avid hiker, a nature lover or just someone looking for a unique experience, Vojak and the surrounding attractions offer something for everyone.
